Colony Park F.C. was established in 1978 by five local Inverurie men, Dod Reid, Wattie Strachan, Bob Gibb, Frank Heldreth and George Mitchell.
It followed disruption to football at Market Place School caused by a teachers' strike in 1977.
Together with other Shire teams from Alford, Banchory, Ellon & Newmachar and Kemnay, they formed the Central Grampian League for young players.
Since then, the club has grown and developed into one of the largest in the north-east. Along the way, several professional players have emerged from young Colony teams including former Dundee Utd, Celtic and Aberdeen midfielder Barry Robson (above, front row fourth from left) and Aberdeen striker Darren Mackie.
